V&G
Draws On Extensive Experience In Mountainous Regions
(4th Quarter 2011)
Vecellio & Grogan is working with Chesapeake
Energy in the ridgelines of northern West Virginia to correct a
number of gas well drilling sites which were originally
constructed by another contractor and have begun to fail or
slide.
Drawing on its decades of heavy/highway and site development
experience in mountainous regions, V&G has worked to correct
Chesapeake’s Macedonia-Yoho and Harlin sites, and is teaming
with AMEC Engineering on a design-build site plan to correct the
Ray Baker site. The work will produce long-term stability for
Chesapeake’s drilling activities on the site, as well as safety
and protection for area residents and a trout stream.

Above: V&G is nearly finished
building a two-mile section of Corridor H in Grant County, WV.
Shown is Cut 1, which required excavating and removing 4 million
cu. yds. of material.

Driving In Harsh Winter Weather Calls For Extra Safety Steps
(4th Quarter 2011)
Harsh winter conditions, such as snow, freezing
temperatures or icy roads, make driving more challenging.
Here are some tips to help you stay safer:
* Be sure your vehicle works properly.
Check the battery, lights, belts,
brakes, tires, wipers, defroster, heater and exhaust.
* Let someone know where you’re going before setting out in bad
weather.
* Have basic essentials in the vehicle
with you: snow brush, ice scraper, shovel, sand, washer fluid,
food, water, blankets, and extra clothing.
* Clear all snow and ice from vehicle before driving.
* Use your headlights – and seat belts!
* Drive at a safe and appropriate speed for existing road and
visibility conditions.
* If you have anti-lock brakes, apply even, steady pressure when
stopping.
* If you do not have anti-lock brakes, pump the brake when
stopping on slippery surfaces.
* If conditions become severe, find a safe place to park until
they improve.
