Hans VanWinkle, director of the Construction Industry Institute (CII), recently presented “The Role of Research in Achieving Project Success” as part of the Vecellio Distinguished Lecture series at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA.

VanWinkle is director of CII, an international consortium with headquarters in Austin, TX, that is working to improve the engineering and construction industries worldwide.

The lecture series is sponsored by an endowment from the Vecellio Family Foundation and individual family members in support of the Vecellio Construction Engineering and Management Program in Virginia Tech’s Via Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Several Vecellios have graduated from Virginia Tech, including the late Leo Vecellio, Sr. (1938), Leo Vecellio, Jr. (1968) and Michael Vecellio (2001).

In addition to the lecture series, the Vecellio endowment supports scholarships, fellowships and a full professorship at the school.
