Vecellio Group's full-color quarterly newsmagazine, VanGuard, earned four awards in the contest, while brochures for Ranger Construction picked up two others. Two of the group's websites, Ranger-Golf.com and VecellioGrogan.com also earned recognition.

Vecellio Group is an eight-time winner in the Communicator Awards 2006 Media Competition, with the company’s newsmagazines, brochures and websites earning a Crystal Award of Excellence, four Awards of Distinction and three Honorable Mentions.

The full-color VanGuard, featuring news and photos about the group and its operating units, received a Crystal Award of Excellence, the competition’s highest honor, in the marketing/promotional campaign category.

VanGuard also received two Awards of Distinction for writing and photography, and an Honorable Mention for design. The quarterly publication is distributed to industry contacts, government officials, employees, customers and prospects, averaging a circulation of 4,500.

A full-color brochure promoting Ranger Construction’s asphalt resurfacing operations earned an Award of Distinction for direct-mail marketing and an Honorable Mention for business-to-consumer communications.

For excellence in online newsletters, www.Ranger-Golf.com earned an Award of Distinction for its promotion of golf course construction, while www.VecellioGrogan.com, featuring the group’s operations in the Mid-Atlantic states, received an Honorable Mention.

The Communicator Awards is an internationally recognized awards organization honoring outstanding work in the communications field. The 2006 competition drew more than 3,800 entries from across the United States and abroad.

Known for “excellence in contracting and construction materials,” the Vecellio Group has received 22 other communications and marketing awards since communications director and VanGuard editor Carl Thiemann joined the group in 1999.

Established in 1938, the Vecellio Group is one of the nation’s top 200 contractors (top 30 in heavy/highway construction) as ranked by Engineering News-Record.
